What This Course Covers

Health and safety law requires employers to provide a safe working environment for their staff. Where a workplace risk assessment identifies the need for trained first aiders, the nationally recognised Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification meets the requirements set out by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

This comprehensive one-day first aid course covers a wide range of emergency situations and first aid scenarios. It equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond quickly, safely, and effectively when an incident occurs.

Successful completion of the course results in an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, which exceeds the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

Assessment takes place throughout the day during practical, scenario-based activities and is designed to be supportive rather than stressful. If additional guidance is needed on any topic or technique, instructors will take the time to revisit it in more detail. There are plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss the course content as the day progresses.

Qualification

Your Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate is valid for three years from the date you complete the course. To renew your qualification, you must attend a further six-hour Emergency First Aid at Work training course.

The EFAW qualification is a nationally recognised and accredited award. At First Aid Exeter, we exceed the minimum standards required by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for first aid training providers.
To learn more about how we meet and surpass these standards, please click here.
For further information on the HSE’s guidance for selecting a first aid training provider, please click here.

In 2013, the HSE deregulated the first aid training industry, meaning externally regulated certification is no longer required. However, some specialist or high-risk workplaces may still require externally regulated qualifications. If this applies to your organisation, please let us know before booking and we will be happy to advise you.

Private Groups

We are happy to run any of our first aid training courses as private groups at either your venue or one of our training centers.

For us to run a private group we just have to charge our small group price as a minimum.

There are no additional fees for us to come out to you as long as some parking is available for your instructor.
